Those who have been following things astronomical might recall last month the new moon and Venus were joined by the planet Mercury. One month later Mercury is gone and has been replaced by the Red Planet, Mars. This shot taken Friday evening at 6:50 PM shows a crescent moon and a brilliant planet Venus framing the red planet Mars. If you have a good enough telescope, you could probably also see the planet Uranus above and to the left of the moon. But it is too dim to see with the naked eye.
Over the next several days Mars and Venus will stay fairly close to each other, although the moon will move away from them fairly quickly.
