A building high pressure ridge will warm us up and keep us sunny through the first half of the weekend. High temperatures on Thursday will climb into the mid-60s in the valley, and then give 70 degrees a chase Friday and Saturday. For Sunday, a very weak frontal band will move through, dropping us back into the low 603 and bringing a few clouds, but probably no showers. Also, don’t forget to set your clocks back Saturday night with the end of Daylight Saving Time.
With all the blue sky we expect this week, Iris’ question seems appropriate: “This may seem like a silly question, but why is the sky blue? I’ve always wanted to know.”
Fear not, no question is ever too silly to answer, especially when it deals with something that we take for granted, like blue sky. To answer her question, you first have to understand what light is, and what air is. (If we keep this up, in no time we’ll have the meaning of life covered as well.)
I will get into all of this in more detail tomorrow.
