We are moving into a fairly active weather pattern over the next week or so. Tuesday will actually bring a break in the action, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 50s. The next storm front arrives late Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing another round of mountain snow and valley rain or snow. A Winter Weather Advisory is posted from Tuesday night at 10 pm till Wednesday morning at 10 am for the Lake Tahoe area. Thanksgiving Thursday should be fairly clear, and if you are making travel plans you may want to try and avoid being on the mountain roads as another storm front moves through the region. Another break on Saturday is followed by more storms Sunday; and looking further down the road it appears like the on again off again weather pattern may be with us through the rest of November.
In summary, and from a travel perspective, if you need to get back and forth across the mountains between now and the end of the holiday week, the best windows of opportunity are Tuesday before 9 pm, Thanksgiving Thursday through early Friday, and the latter half of Saturday.
