We have one more round of thunderstorms coming our way on Wednesday as the light southerly flow brings up some monsoonal flow out of Arizona. Clouds will increase Wednesday afternoon with scattered thunderstorms across the region, with the possibility of localized flash flooding and more lightning expected. The pattern stabilizes and dries out as we go through the second half of the week, and temperatures will climb from the upper 80s on Wednesday into the mid to upper 90s by the weekend with mostly sunny skies.
For those of you wondering where I’ve been the last several days, I finally fulfilled a long dream of experiencing a total solar eclipse. I have had two previous opportunities and have had clouds rain on my solar parade both times. But this time, even though numerous area fires threatened to put a smoky damper on the event, the skies remained clear at (appropriately enough) Clear Lake Oregon. And while I did take some photos, there really is no way to accurately reproduce what a total eclipse of the sun really looks like. It was a mystical experience.
What is the loud harmonic noice I heard today before the lighting and thunder, sounded like a big tuning fork, I was scared!! Never ever heard that noice before, Drake WY Washoe Valley??? Danna????

What you’re describing is not real common, but it is not unheard of either. I believe it is caused by the electrical fields which build up in an area where Lightning is occurring that will react with some metal in the area causing it to vibrate. That’s the “tuning fork” sound you referred to.
