We finally have some weather coming through the region, and although none of the systems are particularly strong, they will likely bring some mountain precipitation with snow up at about the pass levels.

For Tuesday, the mild weather will continues with some cloudiness and temperatures in the mid-50s in the valleys. The first possible band of precipitation arrives late Wednesday evening with snow levels around 8,000, with a somewhat more substantial series of bands coming in Thursday and Friday. Snow levels will likely drop to around 7,000’, and there will be substantial shadowing on our side of the mountains, so any rainfall in Reno will be limited. By the weekend high temperatures will drop to the upper 40s with a few clouds, but things should dry up by then.

Thank you

I just noticed something…as of this column, I am starting my 18th year writing this little missive. It began as a daily column for the Reno Gazette Journal, and continues to be used as such. Many thanks go out to you the reader for all these years of support, and for all the great questions and feedback you have provided. It all really wouldn’t happen without you.

Happy New Year!
